I grew up in a Christian home where we were in church 3 times a week. There was a clear distinction between right and wrong, good and evil. After high school, I attended a conservative Christian college and met a wonderful, godly woman there who I would eventually marry. Kim has been and still is the biggest earthly blessing that God has given me. In 1996, we moved to Missouri, started a family, and got involved in church. Somewhere in there, the Lord saved me. I look back and can see times of growth and conviction, times where the Lord dealt with sin in my heart and matured me. However, the last 10-12 years the Lord has been very gracious to me and in His mercy, He has caused great growth in my life.

There are three areas that the Lord has grown me. First, He has given me a greater love for Himself. Through the revealing and conviction of sin, sometimes gentle and sometimes harsh, He has graciously revealed Christ; who He is and what He has done and still doing. I see, know, and love Christ today at a depth that cannot be compared to where it was 12 years ago. Secondly, He has given me a love for His Word. I realize more clearly that a love for Christ and a love for His Word are connected. I have grown to love His Word because of whom His Word reveals. Finally, He has increased my love for His people. 12 years ago, church was mostly about what I could get out of it. Today I realize that His church is not about me, it is about Him and others. I desire to love what Christ loves, and He certainly loves those for whom He died.

It is because of these things that I loved serving GBC for 4 years and with their encouragement and partnership have planted Manhattan Bible Church along with a team from GBC, in Manhattan, KS. I desire to help others grow in their love for Christ, His Word, and His people. I am truly humbled by the privilege to maintain my partnership with GBC as a shepherd while planting MBC in Manhattan. Kim and I could not imagine a better way to serve our Savior and His people. We could not imagine a better place for our children; Caleb, Alyssa, Jacob, Anna, and Ethan to learn of the love and beauty of the Savior from than GBC and MBC.
